Hitting Left

Mike gets together each week, often with special guests in studio and from around the country, to discuss current topics involving politics, education and social justice "from the Left side of the plate." The topics covered may be local, national or international but always with a Chicago sensibility and perspective.

Brothers Mike and Fred Klonsky broadcast Hitting Left each week on www.lumpenradio.com 105.5 FM in Chicago at 11AM on Fridays. This week's broadcast hosted Liliana Diaz and Aide Hernandez. They are members of a youth group affiliated with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association that is exploring the indigenous native history of themselves and their community. Their journey included a trip to Standing Rock. They are also active in issues concerning gentrification, all of which is connected to folks being removed from their land. Also joining us are Katy Hogan and Mike James, long-time social justice fighters, founders of the Heartland Cafe, radio host on Live from the Heartland. We talk about Illinois politics, Rauner, Pat Quinn, democratic vision and activism, Tom Hayden, Black Panther Bob Lee.
